Does your school need a lift?


Beyond direct services for children, The Literacy Lift also provides training to parents and teachers.  Hands-on workshops provide opportunities for the entire school community to learn proven instructional strategies for improving reading and writing skills.

All parents want to help their children succeed, but many need practical ideas for how to provide support.  Parent workshops provide hands-on experiences in which parents learn easy, effective strategies for developing reading and writing skills at home.  Children are often invited to participate with the parents during the training.  

Parent Training topics include:

  • Learning the ABCs

  • Phonemic Awareness

  • Decoding (Sounding Out)

  • Reading Comprehension

  • Question-Answer Relationships

  • Reading Non-Fiction

  • Understanding the FCAT

  • Test-Taking Strategies

  • Writing Strategies

Additional parent trainings can be developed based on the interests and needs of the participants.

Teacher workshops are designed to help participants learn effective instructional strategies that enable all students to reach their highest potential.  By focusing on the different aspects of the reading process, teachers are better able to facilitate student learning.
